![]() The Blogdriver I am... Karlow male 23 years old from Sta. Mesa an Editor a self-confessed glutton. I like... computers, Nintendo DS and PSP, tech gadgets, television, and sleeping (my fave). I used to write and edit for our student publication in college, and that's what got me into blogging (although some say blogging is not journalism). I don't write to impress; I just do it. Using highfalutin words is not my style, but using parentheses is (really). This blog contains my opinion, experiences, and others' as well. I update based on my metabolism. No pressure. Social Experiment Update My social experiment was a flop (see previous entry). No one bit it. Well, at least now I know that people are smarter than I thought they were. It really bothers me when people post or send a message claiming that someone’s life will be taken or something bad will happen if they do not repost it or send it to other people. How 18th century! Now I have to delete the message that I posted before someone thinks of me as a fool. :-P
Spread this or catch the virus I’m having a social experiment. I posted this fake message on Friendster:
Because you opened this message, you have to repost it in 10 minutes, or else, your mother will catch swine flu! Then, I’ll wait to see who will fall for it. He he! I just hope none the people of my friends’ list read this entry until my experiment is done.
Kids These Days Students will be back to school next week, and I had the chance to see some of my former students (I’m a former teacher, FYI) thru Friendster (I don’t believe in Facebook). Some of them are about to enter high school this school year, and they really surprised me.
I did not imagine that my once sweet, innocent pupils could turn into… I don’t even know how call them. Their Friendster page is filled with these goth/emo backgrounds (talk about poseurs) and other things that I don’t think they truly understand at their age. But what caught my attention was their “shoutouts,” you know, that box above their primary pics. Here are some of them (raw and unedited): "It really hurtz 2 love sm1 when d credit u get after all u've done is a broken heart...:( ..And it doesnt pays off 2see 2ppol 2gther,holding, and caring, wen u knew but hs 4gottn dat he hs TAKEN U 4 GRANT3D..." (You’re only 12, girl, what do you know about being taken for granted?) Remember that those are from children’s Friendster profiles; I believe that they do not know what they are talking about. The pic below is not from my former students’ profile; it was from my student's friend, and I find it really alarming. Take a look at it (their faces were blurred to protect their identities): ![]() What do you think? He he!
Easter Sunday Reflections I dreamt of my beloved Lola who passed away already. In my dream, she was very much alive, walking on a street. I approached her and gave her a kiss and a hug. Perhaps due to her poor eyesight, she asked if I was Erick, my older brother. I said no, but she was insisting that I was him. It turned out that she wanted to see him more than I. Ouch! So what I did was bring my brother to my Lola. Their reunion was a tear jerker; in my dream, I was crying, and I was doing the same when I woke up.
Before my Lola died, she was being taken care of by my brother. I think I was busy with my studies, so I hadn’t had the chance to be with her that time, and I regretted it. That would explain why in my dream, I was practically set aside by my Lola. My dream made me realize how important it is to show my family how much I love them, before it’s too late. I, however, am not a showy type of person, as far as emotions are concerned, so it is really had for me to do so. Another thing that I realized is the more I get older, the more I get emotional. And I’m not even emo.
When the darkness is actually good ![]() I and my family had the lights in our home switched off last night to support Earth Hour. I hope you did, too.
